Tunesfall — 21st Century Jukebox

Tunesfall — 21st Century Jukebox

Tunesfall was a startup reimagining how music is played in public spaces. Instead of passively listening to whatever a venue chose, people could finally influence the music they hear while eating, drinking, or spending time with others.

In 2016, Revolware partnered with Tunesfall to help turn this idea into a real, scalable product. We supported the project across product design, UX, IT architecture, server infrastructure, and also consulted on the business and platform strategy.

At its core, Tunesfall was a smart, adaptive jukebox. Users could act as their own DJs in cafés, restaurants, and bars by liking and disliking songs. Liked tracks would be played more often, while disliked songs would gradually disappear from their experience. The system decided what to play in real time based on the preferences of people currently present in a café, restaurant, shop or a bar. Users could like or dislike songs, ensuring they heard more of what they enjoyed and less of what they didn’t. Where available and allowed, Tunesfall could also factor in users’ existing music preferences — such as songs saved on their devices or shared via social platforms — to better understand their taste without extra effort.

Beyond individual input, Tunesfall built a long-term profile for each venue. Playlists evolved based on who visited most often and when. For example, a café near a bilingual German high school would naturally shift toward German artists and songs popular in Germany during after-school hours, reflecting its real audience at that time of day.

The result was music that automatically matched both the moment and the place. Venues benefited from better atmosphere and customer satisfaction, while visitors experienced music that felt familiar, relevant, and personal without having to actively manage it.

Tunesfall anticipated later trends in collective personalization, ambient intelligence, and data-driven experiences in physical spaces.
